The United States has successfully tested hypersonic cruise missiles with an air-jet engine (VRD). This was announced on Tuesday by the office of advanced research programs of the us Department of defense (DARPA).
The statement notes that DARPA and the US air force have successfully completed tests of two versions of the concept of hypersonic weapons with VRD and are ready to start the first tests in free flight within a calendar year, writes TASS. It is emphasized that specialists are developing “critical technologies” for creating effective hypersonic air-launched cruise missiles.
Earlier, the Pentagon repeatedly recognized the lag behind Russia and China in the production of hypersonic weapons. In June, the President of the United States Donald trump has used martial law to implement a program to create hypersonic weapons and space technologies. We are talking about the law on defense production, adopted in 1950, when the Korean conflict began.
